About Claire Shirey

Claire Shirey is a Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist and champion Irish dancer with a rich background in Irish music and dance. She taught at the Atlanta Irish Music School in 2012 and has performed at venues such as the Chamber of Commerce and Emory Celtic Christmas. Since 2013, she has played and danced with various bands in Atlanta and has placed in Fleadh competitions.

Since 2018, Claire has been a fiddle player for Feiseanna across the US and Mexico, participating in major competitions. She has performed with Celtic Illusion during their Canadian/US tours and is a resident musician with Micheal Londra’s band. Claire founded the Nashville Irish Music School in 2019 and is a member of the Traditional Irish Music Band, Music City Trad.

She is an Irish step dancer and a certified teacher under An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha, teaching at the Scott-Ellis School of Irish Dance. Claire has a distinguished competitive dancing career, finishing 4th in the Southern Region in 2016 before retiring to focus on music. Her experiences include dancing for renowned bands and her aim is to share the connection between dance and music. Claire graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Communications Studies and a certificate in Music Business.
